Dr. Jenn Finn

Jenn Finn (M.A. Columbia University, M.A. University of Michigan, PhD University of Michigan, PhD Ludwig Maximilians-Universität) is Associate Professor and Chair of the Classical Studies Department at Loyola University Chicago. She works on ancient warfare, Alexander the Great, cross-cultural contacts between the Ancient Near East and the Greco-Roman world, ancient historiography, and first millennium empires. In 2017, she published Much Ado about Marduk: Questioning Discourses of Royalty in First Millennium Mesopotamian Literature, and in 2022 she published Contested Pasts: A Determinist History of Alexander the Great in the Roman Empire. Her most recent work includes the 2025 edited volume Courage and Cowardice in Ancient Warfare, and an in-progress sourcebook on daily life in Ancient Mesopotamia.
